Art Basel Miami 2023 was an engaging blend of art and innovation, and Bevel, together with Avenue Z, was excited to be a part of it. We navigated through diverse exhibits, each offering a fresh perspective on modern art. Here's our recap of the standout experiences.

1. A Sculptural Ode to Terroir

Our journey began with the "Jeroboam Blanc de Blancs Limited Edition" by Eva Jospin at the Ruinart exhibition. Jospin’s transformation of a simple wooden case into a miniature crayère, using layers of cardboard, was a breathtaking homage to the champagne-making process. This masterpiece offered a wandering journey through Ruinart’s essence, blending art with the spirit of fine winemaking.

2. Environmental Activism Meets Art

"Art for the Oceans" marked Art Basel’s stride towards environmental advocacy, a collaboration with Parley for the Oceans. The initiative showcased artist-designed surfboards and ocean bags, turning art into a medium for change. A triptych by Julian Schnabel titled “Oceans, Climate, Life” served as the event’s centerpiece, symbolizing the critical role of ocean conservation.

3. Pioneering Inclusivity in Digital Arts

MakersPlace and World of Women brilliantly showcased their commitment to fostering an inclusive and dynamic digital arts scene at this year's Miami Art Week. Building on their previous successes at NFT Paris, NFT NYC, and Artfest, their collaboration in Miami was not just another exhibit but a bold statement in the web3 space. They championed diversity, equity, and inclusion, transcending beyond the conventional boundaries of digital creativity. The end-of-year celebration in Miami was a dazzling display, featuring a curated selection of artworks that had graced stages at previous events, including World of Women’s custom Monopoly board and other pieces from Artfest. This showcase was more than a visual feast; it was a testament to the power of inclusive and diverse voices in shaping the future of digital arts.

4. AVZ X ART: A Debut to Remember

This year, Bevel and our parent company Avenue Z made our debut at Art Basel with the spectacular event AVZ x ART, which exceeded all expectations. It was a vibrant day of padel play, power yoga, networking and brunch. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our partners and sponsors - Shopify, Celsius, HeyHei, Hampton Water, Right Water, SoFlo Jewels, JEZV.US, TLF Apparel, Reserve Padel, and Prescient AI - for their invaluable support in making this event a huge success. The engagement and spirit of our attendees truly made the day special, contributing to the dynamic and engaging atmosphere.

5. From Footwear to Art Toys

Renowned footwear designer Salehe Bembury ventured into a new realm of creativity at Art Basel with the unveiling of his vinyl toy design. In collaboration with American Express Platinum, Bembury showcased his puffer fish toy, a symbol of his brand's mascot and a reflection of his sponge-like approach to life and design. This piece, along with other reimagined collectibles and art toys by various artists, was featured at the PLAY by American Express Gallery. Bembury's evolution from designing iconic sneakers to creating a unique art toy encapsulates his journey of absorbing and transforming his New York City experiences into diverse artistic expressions. This exhibit, blending art with play and nostalgia, highlighted Bembury's versatility as a designer and marked a significant milestone in his artistic career.
