Who we are
Our story began in 2016, when Jessica Schaefer was leading communications for Steve Cohen's then-family office, Point72, and working to launch its investment arm, Point72 Ventures. After a successful launch of what is now a global venture capital firm, Jessica began supporting the founders in the portfolio with brand-building initiatives and media relations. She had an uncommon knack for placing the right stories at the right time — so much so that she was often receiving poaching calls and encouragement to start her own endeavor. She saw a new sector bubbling: fintech. Not yet a term in the cultural zeitgeist, the fintech industry was worth a mere $17B; today it's estimated at $112B. She set out to bridge the massive gap in the market for venture and tech communciations with a team that understood the nuances of finance.
She founded Bevel, a new kind of strategic communications company that would service the growing sectors of tech-meets-industry. She named it for the beveled edge of a table, the point at which two sides meet. It struck her as the precise metaphor for her vision.
Today, Bevel is the preeminent communications consultancy for companies across finance, tech, and venture capital, and collaborates with leaders focused on progressive change in industries from consumer goods to outer space. Bevel’s business model combines the power of influential storytelling with the analytical mindset of a start-up, with a proactive approach to media strategy that supports the goals of their clients. With offices in New York City, Los Angeles, Miami, and London, Bevel is positioned globally in their mission to build category-leading brands around the world.
