Welcome to our blog series, Get to Know the Bevel Team! Over the next few months, we will take a deep dive into the incredible people that make up our team. Today, we are pleased to introduce you to Alexa Zhang, one of our incredible Junior Associates.

Part of the Bevel team since fall of 2022, Alexa has proven to be an invaluable asset. Driven and passionate, Alexa enjoys thinking strategically with her Bevel colleagues to bypass barriers and problem-solve. Alexa is constantly focused on learning and pushing herself, knowing this is the way to progress.


Originally from Shenzhen, China, Alexa recently graduated from New York University with a Master’s in Integrated Marketing. Alexa enjoys traveling, embracing new cultures, and trying new cuisines when not busy taking hip-hop dance classes or horseback riding. She loves to try unique dishes and share her experiences with anyone she meets. In 2023, Alexa looks forward to going on new adventures, taking on more challenges, and continuing to grow in her role at Bevel. She's ready to take on whatever comes her way and can't wait to see what happens! To get to know her better, Alexa shared some of her favorite things:

1. Favorite book: Normal People by Sally Rooney, My biggest takeaway from this book is you don't have to be great to start, but you can always start to be great.


2. Favorite restaurant in New York: Cafe China- The most authentic Chinese spot in the city, highly recommended!

3. Favorite place to relax in the city: Central Park-Central Park is my secret place to take deep breaths and self-reflection after a hectic season, and I also love jogging there because you can always find your workout buddies there!

4. Favorite Color: Black-When you're struggling with the color of your outfit, you can never go wrong with black.


5. Favorite Song: I don’t think we should wait - Sir was- this is one of my favorite songs because of the beat. It’s something that when I turn it on, I immediately feel better.

Meet the Bevel Team: Alexa Zhang

On September 28th, Bevel hosted ‘Bevel, Books & Bourbon,’ the company’s invite-only speaker series in The Strand’s iconic Rare Books Room in Union Square. This month, Bevel was ecstatic to host famed author and media icon Ken Auletta. Ken joined to discuss his most recent NYT bestselling book, 

“Hollywood Ending: Harvey Weinstein and the Culture of Silence.”

The night was filled with Bourbon cocktails, as the audience listened to Ken describe how Weinstein rose to become a dominant figure in business and entertainment, and ultimately, how it all came crashing down through the abuse of his power.

Ken Auletta Talks the Art of Profiling Powerful Men

Q: Nneka, where is your favorite place in New York?

A: I’m obsessed with Domino Sugar Park on the Williamsburg waterfront and I also like rainy days at the Brooklyn Museum.

Q: Has there been an event during your time at Bevel that you have particularly enjoyed?

A: Loved having The Block’s Frank Chaparro in the office for a fireside chat.

Q: I know you’re a big reader, what is your favorite book?

A: I just reread Yaa Gyasi’s Transcendent Kingdom. She has a brilliant way with words. It’s the kind of story you feel in your bones. Last week I finished Anxious People for the first time, which was a fun and twisted mystery from Swedish author Fredrik Backman.

Q: What has been your favorite travel destination?

A: Ooo that’s an impossible one to answer! Zanzibar has some of my favorite beaches and vibes. Hong Kong is one place that keeps me coming back — It has everything I love: mountains, water, lush greenery, and bustling, frenzied city. Immaculate vibes all around.

Q: What’s your favorite food? Do you have a go-to spot in New York?

A: I go to the taco truck down the block from my apartment probably three or four days a week, so… I always love a tasting menu though, and may or may not be described as “the queen of restaurant week” among my friends.

A: My sweet black cat Willow! Next month marks 7 years since I got her!

Q: What’s something that I haven’t asked that not many people may know about you?

A: I’m a dedicated fan of all things Real Housewives and the Bravo Cinematic Universe.

Get to Know the Bevel Team: Nneka Etoniru, Senior Director

As we approach Labor Day Weekend and prepare for the excitement in the fall, our Bevel team recapped what was most memorable for them over these last few summer months.

Kicking it off in June, we were excited to have our first in-person Bevel Books and Bourbon event at Bevel’s favorite wine bar in Tribeca: L’entree. The evening consisted of a conversation between Red Antler co-founder Emily Heyward and 

 contributor Gabby Shacknai as the two discussed the foundations of building a brand that is memorable for the consumer.

As we moved through the summer, our team enjoyed team outings to Grand Banks on the Hudson River as well as workout classes at Coreology in Los Angeles. Our summer events all built up to our first LA Tech Week party where we hosted founders, investors, and conference attendees for a tapas happy hour.

Senior Associate, Alyssa Lyles shared, "The energy at LA Tech Week was a great reminder of the potential of the industry. With so much going on, it was exciting to see what all the great minds in the LA area are innovating towards and meet the people that are creating the next big thing. It’s an amazing feeling to know that Bevel is working in conjunction with these individuals."

Last month, we gathered our founders, CEOs, the media and close friends to celebrate Bevel’s 5th anniversary at Lavan541 in New York City. Together, we’ve shared five incredible years of connecting with extraordinary industry leaders, trips to conferences around the world and building our expansive Bevel network.

Since launching in 2017, we've opened three offices in New York, LA and Miami, and grew our team to over 30 members.

To-date, five of our clients have had successful exits, and nearly 50% of the firm’s client portfolio is female-led. Throughout the pandemic, in particular, we experienced 269% growth. We’ve expanded our client base to include crypto, web3, consumer brands and entertainment, in addition to our fintech and venture capital clients that have been with us since the very beginning.

We’re eternally grateful for the endless support over the past five years, and can’t wait for what’s to come. Thank you to the incredible Bevel team, and our clients, friends, family and supporters. Here’s to five more!

Bevel's 5th Anniversary Gala!

We’re excited to announce that Bevel is representing Curio Cards in a first-of-its-kind live auction with Christie’s auction house this Friday, October 1st. Noah Davis, Head of Digital Sales and NFT specialist at Christie’s auction house is making history with the first live sale of an NFT on Ethereum. 

"While many believe CryptoPunks was the earliest NFT project, it was actually this 2017 historical blockchain project, Curio Cards, that holds that title"

Curio Cards were rediscovered and recently brought mainstream. They are now officially recognized as the first NFT art collection on Ethereum. One extremely rare full set of Curio Cards, made up of 31 individual NFTs, is up for auction at Christie’s this week. This is the first piece of art sold by a major auction house that will be bid on live and paid for in Ethereum.

A few notable members are included as a part of the project such as Gary Vee, (Curio Card Full Set Owner, entrepreneur and NFT expert), Adam McBride, (NFT archaeologist), and Daryl Morey, (President of the Philadelphia 76ers and Curio Card Full Set Owner).

Bevel Represents Curio Cards, First NFT on Ethereum

On May 3rd, one of Bevel’s first clients, the “Pioneer” and “Grandfather” of Venture Capital, Alan Patricof, released his memoir No Red Lights: Reflections on Life, 50 Years in Venture Capital and Never Driving Alone. 

Alan is a true "Poster Boy" for the ageless generation. 

His message is: If I can do it, so can you. He's lived such an exciting, multifaceted life, combining his love of arts, politics, theater and public service without sacrificing family and business success.  

As part of Bevel’s Executive Profiling Division, we created and executed a multimedia launch campaign for the launch of No Red Lights. Campaign elements included promoting pre-order and post-launch book sales, utilizing social channels to connect with Alan's audience, activating a personal website and promotional video for the book, and organizing a hybrid in-person and virtual media tour.

This February 2022, I am beyond thrilled that we will be celebrating Bevel’s five year anniversary. Founding and growing Bevel has been one of my most rewarding personal and professional experiences. The opportunity to interact with and build strategies for the technology evangelists of our century is an honor – and, for the very first time in any job, I haven’t been bored.

Our lesson from last year was to “never waste a crisis,” and this year Bevel doubled down on this mandate and continued to grow our business at a rapid pace. Over the course of the year, as a reflection of our reputation and success, we have signed a number of new clients that are high-profile leaders and category creators, with a growing waitlist of companies eager to work with us in 2022. In part due to our hard work, four of Bevel’s clients have recently had successful exits to Robinhood, Coinbase (x2) and TradingView. Another area of focus has been our SPAC-related media and investor relations strategies for our high-profile clients that are in the process of going public. Meanwhile, our seed stage clients grew into multi-billion dollar companies. We’ve also launched an influencer, social and paid marketing practice to provide an end-to-end communications service.

On the Bevel team side, we continued to search for and hire the best talent from a variety of industries. We have tripled the size of our team, with the goal of being a team of 50 by the end of next year. Our success in this last year has been evident in our numbers–in terms of both revenue and employee growth. Bevel’s revenue has grown over 65% year over year.

At Bevel our goal is to consistently work with the media in the most respectful ways – helping reporters do their job and tell stories in the most effective, helpful manner. With that said, we’re launching our Media Spotlight Series, where we highlight a reporter, editor or media partner on what inspired them to pursue their career in the media, and get a brief look into their careers.

To kick off the Media Spotlight Series, we have Gabrielle Olya, a lead writer and editor at GoBanking Rates. When looking at Gabrielle’s background, it is clear that she can wear multiple hats in the reporting world as she has just as much experience covering the entertainment and consumer world for publications like People Magazine, and BuzzWeekly, as she does giving money-tips on her column, the 

. Safe to call her a“Renaissance man” of the reporting world, and it all began after watching her favorite film in high school 

Did you always know you were going to pursue a career in journalism?

Funny story on how I decided to go into journalism. I watched 

when it was out in theaters. The storyline was that the main character wrote for a magazine, and wanted to be a serious journalist and get past the “puff pieces.” Thing is, I wanted to write those puff pieces and fun lifestyle stories, they seemed like a really exciting way to use my writing skills. After watching that film, I was pretty set on journalism, and figured out my college major, and internships based around the end goal of working for a major magazine.

How would you describe the evolution of your beat? Is the beat you focus on now your favorite?

My beat has definitely done a 180 from the start of my career until now. Most of my internship experience was in entertainment journalism and when I was working with People Magazine I was writing on celebrity lifestyle. When I started at GBR, I did not know much about personal finance and really learned as I worked here. It made me realize how little personal finance content there is that is geared towards women. This is what led me to create my column the 

 where I cover a range of personal finance topics from, “how to start saving for an apartment” to “how to not let a divorce ruin your credit score.” The point of the column is to make women feel like finance is approachable, and something they should be able to contribute towards.

What advice would you give to publicists who reach out to reporters in hopes of gaining their interest with a pitch?

I’m someone who is open to PR pitches, and I always try to make myself approachable to the PR people I work with. What makes an effective PR pitch I think has strong research, a unique angle or an interesting source. I’m always looking for that one data point that I can pull out that would make an amazing headline, and in general when I receive a PR pitch, I will always see if it is something I can try to distill in a way that’s useful for a general audience.

If you had to pick one reporter/editor/writer in the journalism world to work with, who would you pick?

I always thought that I would end up writing for Vogue so I’m  going to go with Anna Wintour, but also, I’m a big fan of interior design so I’d love to work with Amy Astley. She’s the US Editor in Chief of Architectural Digest, and I feel like I’ve always followed her reporting journey from when she was working at Teen Vogue until now.

Media Spotlight Series: Gabrielle Olya

Welcome back to another edition of "Get to Know the Bevel Team!" where we look closely at the unique individuals who make up our team. Today, we're excited to spotlight Nia Ceasar, another one of our exceptional Junior Associates.

Nia joined the Bevel team in May of 2022 and quickly became a valued member of the team. A graduate of NYU with a Master's degree in Public Relations, Nia has a strong passion for learning, and is always looking for new ways to challenge herself and grow personally and professionally. Nia loves working at Bevel and finds inspiration from her talented teammates, and she is inspired by her love for learning and working with amazing colleagues.

In addition to her work at Bevel, Nia has a wide range of interests. She enjoys musical theater, pop culture, astrology/tarot, and sports - particularly baseball (Go Dodgers!). She played competitive softball throughout high school and continued to play collegiately.

1. What's your favorite TV Show? Gossip Girl and The Office. Gossip girl is so salacious, and it’s my (not so) guilty pleasure. The Office is my comfort show. I found the show at a very interesting time, and it has been my go-to ever since.

2. What's your favorite food? French Fries. I am a self-proclaimed french fry connoisseur. Whenever I go out to eat, I check to see if they have french fries!

3. Where is your dream vacation? London! I have always been fascinated with European culture, and I would love to visit some of the fantastic spots I have seen in my favorite tv shows and movies.

4. What's your favorite color? Pink and blue.

5. What do you like to do in your spare time? I started taking tap dancing lessons to feed my inner theater kid. I love having the ability to express myself creatively.

6. What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? Do it scared.

Nia’s positive attitude and willingness to learn and grow will take her far in her career. We're thrilled to have her on board and can't wait to see where her journey with Bevel takes her next. Stay tuned for more spotlights on the incredible individuals that make up our team!

Meet the Bevel Team: Nia Ceasar

38% of Americans set a new year’s resolution goal,

 yet only 9% follow through on completing them. On January 13th, however, Bevel aimed to change that by starting the new year off strong and hosting a wellness event in the heart of Manhattan. Hosted at The Kavannah Space, founders, CEOs and members of the media were encouraged to start the year strong and “bring your best you.” Attendees enjoyed an elixir bar, catering to those who were participating in 

 and delicious plant-based bites – if you’ve never had konjac superfood bread, you are missing out – alongside facials and massages to elevate the self-care experience. In addition, guests participated in both a guided meditation and sound bowl meditation led by wellness coach 

. The night set the tone for the year and was a reminder to all that despite the hurdles along the way, we each have a toolkit to ensure a successful 2023.
